Направление развития Прогресс обсудили, интересно что делает Оракл ...

На недавней призентации новых направлений Оракла мне запомнились два.
Во первых, это NoSQL Database -- это вообше из другой галактики, и не RDBMS и не SQL.....

А вторая несколько ближе к прогрессу -- TimesTen InMemory Database

Большинство приложений прогресса как мне кажется работают на том же сервере что и сама база прогресс. Предположим иной вариант.
Сервер А -- база данных
Сервер B -- сервер приложения

TimesTen InMemory Database в таком раскладе это будет небольшая база на B ( подмножество базы данных сервера А ) которая полностью помешается в память сервера B, является локальной для клиентов сервера B и подгружает данные из A по мере необходимости.
Причем не обязательно по записям целиком. Можно подгружать только вырезку определенных полей записи ( как бы View ), только те поля что необходимы. При этом TimesTen InMemory Database -- это транзакционная база, с bi-файлом на диске для зашиты от падения сервера B. Все остальное в памяти. И скорость обрашения к данным такой базы измеряется в нано-секундах.
